Reflection

By changing the medium of my print essay, I ultimately changed the way it would be received. The paper was transformed by taking the flashback dialogue and changing it to pictures of my family and I during the time the fights took place. I also recorded a reading of the conversation in my paper to the slide-show of pictures. This new medium gives the reader the ability to hear me talk as well as see what my family and I looked like ten years ago. The visual and audible aspects of the remediation draws the reader closer to the situation and makes the concept of my paper more ratable. The experience is different as well instead of reading the essay, which could take some one five to 10 minutes; they can watch it in less than 2 minutes. By changing the medium the genre of the project was also changed from print to a multimedia classification. Though the overall medium genre changed the light-heartedness and funny aspect of my story still remained.
